My name is Dr Ellie Atayee-Bennett and I am a sociologist.
I am a sociologist interested in everyday ethical and sustainable practices, and how ethical and climatic crises influence and shape practice and identity. My PhD explored ethics, values, and practices among a group of Muslim, Jewish, and Christian vegans to understand how ethical principles are interrogated and reinterpreted in response to modern ethical crises. My key finding was a nuanced expression of veganism: faith veganism. I draw on this knowledge and other knowledge gained through other research projects and experiences to advocate for green, ethical living which is truly the need of the hour.
